How will I benefit from using a vocational expert?

We provide crucial and thorough facts regarding the injured worker’s future in the workforce.  In any type of litigation involving an injury, it is important to determine the economic value attributed to that case.  Most likely, there will be a loss of earning capacity and a vocational expert will identify what that loss would be and assist in defining the best course of action.

Why Hire an American Board of Vocational Experts (ABVE) Certified Vocational Expert?

Successful completion of the ABVE National Certification process assures the retaining party that the expert has acquired and demonstrated both knowledge and competency of key legal doctrines such as the Federal Rules of Evidence, and the ability to accurately apply the meaning & intent of the court rulings (Daubert, Joiner, Kumho and Federal Rules 702 & 403) to our work as vocational experts.  Diplomate status requires seven (7) years of forensic experience, intensive peer review of forensic skills, and the successful completion of the forensic oriented ABVE National Certification Examination.  This certification also requires annual continuing education credits to maintain and enhance one’s forensic skills and knowledge.

A vocational expert can aid in quantifying losses in workers’ compensation, wrongful death, medical malpractice and other areas of civil litigation.  In worker’s compensation claims, a vocational expert can help to determine if there is appropriate employment with the current employer by analyzing the injured worker’s education, skills and abilities.

A vocational expert can also be utilized to help determine damages in a case by completing a peer review of the opinions of other experts or by simply reviewing the facts in a particular case.  This can be a cost effective tool especially for parties who are seeking to mediate a claim.
